The Honourable Byron Wright and The Honourable Lane Wiegers have been appointed as judges of the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan. Judge Wiegers is appointed to Estevan, replacing Judge Karl Baziin, who will transfer to Swift Current. Judge Wiegers has appeared at all levels of court in his 22 years as a prosecutor. At the time of his appointment, he was the Director of Prosecutors with the Ministry of Justice. Judge Wright is appointed to Saskatoon, replacing Associate Chief Judge Marty Irwin, who retires April 1, 2014. Judge Wright has 27 years of experience as a criminal defence lawyer and prosecutor. Prior to his appointment, he was Associate Chief Federal Prosecutor for Saskatchewan.
