The Honourable Brian J. Scherman, Q.C., and the Honourable Lian M. Schwann, Q.C., have been appointed judges of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Saskatchewan. Justice Scherman, a lawyer with Miller Thomson LLP in Saskatoon, was appointed to the Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon. He’s been a partner with Miller Thomson LLP since a merger in December 2010, and prior to that, was partner with Balfour Moss since 1975.
He is active in the legal community, as well as with various community, civic and minor sports organizations. Justice Schwann, previously Registrar of the Court of Appeal and Registrar in Bankruptcy in Regina, was appointed to the Queen’s Bench in Moose Jaw. She has also acted as Crown Counsel for the Civil Law Division of the Ministry of Justice, was an associate with McDougall Gauley for four years and was an investigator for the Office of the Ombudsman in 1979. She has also been a sessional lecturer at the First Nations University of Canada at the University of Regina
