The Honourable Chief Justice M.D. Popescul of the Court of King’s Bench for Saskatchewan is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Shalashniy as Registrar in Bankruptcy, effective April 1, 2024.
Mr. Shalashniy received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008, a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2011 and was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 2012. Mr. Shalashniy articled at the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General and practiced law in a number of places including Kanuka Thuringer LLP, Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan and Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan Corporation.
Mr. Shalashniy has held various roles serving the public with the Ministries of Justice and Attorney General, Social Services, Corrections and Policing, Finance and Executive Council (Intergovernmental Affairs). He also served as Vice-Chair of the Saskatchewan Police Commission from 2021-2024. He also holds an Osgoode Certificate in Fundamentals of Indigenous People and Canadian Law (2022).
