The Provincial Court of Saskatchewan has introduced 19 new Criminal Practice Directives.
Effective October 1, 2026, these Practice Directives will replace all existing Provincial Court Practice Directives.
The new Criminal Practice Directives include updated numerical ordering, revised forms, and changes to the material within the documents. Revisions to the content of the Practice Directives were made in consultation with justice stakeholders. Five brand new Criminal Practice Directives have also been added – Criminal PD 1 – Identification of Counsel, Criminal PD 3 – Audioconference and Videoconference Appearances by Accused Persons and Offenders, Criminal PD 5 – Filing of Court Documents, Criminal PD 18 – Variation of Optional Conditions of Conditional Sentence Orders, Criminal PD 19 – Artificial Intelligence.
