The Honourable Crystal L. Norbeck and the Honourable Jillyne M. Drennan have been appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina. Justice Norbeck is appointed to the General Division, replacing Justice Janet McMurtry, who elected supernumerary status earlier this year. Justice Norbeck, a managing partner with Gerrand Rath Johnson LLP in Regina at the time of her appointment, has focused on labour and employment law. She has served as a bencher to the Law Society twice and received the Queen’s Counsel designation in 2021. Justice Drennan, who is filling one of two new positions on the Court created in last year’s federal budget, will join the Court’s Family Law Division. At the time of her appointment, Justice Drennan was Legal Director for the Regina Rural Legal Aid Office. Also a past bencher with the Law Society, Justice Drennan has volunteered with Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan and acted as a liaison with the Integrated Justice Program, which supports Indigenous individuals with cognitive issues dealing with the criminal justice system.
