In June 2006, the Saskatchewan Provincial Court will commence circuit court sittings on the Thunderchild First Nation. The judge and staff from the Lloydminster Provincial Court office will hold court there twice a month.
The Thunderchild First Nation Chief and Council identified Thunderchild First Nation as a potential site for a circuit court location and approached Saskatchewan Justice with their desire to host court proceedings for the benefit of the people of the local area. The decision to make Thunderchild a circuit court point came after consultation with all stakeholders within the communities involved and the justice system.
