The Honourable Erin Layton has been appointed to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan in La Ronge. Judge Layton has been a lawyer in northern Saskatchewan for nearly 20 years. She graduated from Churchill High School in La Ronge and went on to earn a law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2000. She began her career in private practice in Melfort, and then went to work for the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in Prince Albert and La Ronge. Judge Layton replaces Judge Mary McAuley who will transfer to Prince Albert to assume the Cree Court circuit when Judge Gerald Morin retires in 2019.
