The Court of Appeal has approved the use of a certificate of service as an alternative method of proving service. The Civil Practice Directive will come into effect January 1, 2012, and will provide a means for counsel to prove service where they may be unable to obtain and file an acknowledgment of service within the required time period. The initiative arose out of a request from members of the appellate bar and should be particularly useful in facilitating the electronic filing of notices of appeal through the eCourt portal.
