This week (May 4 – 10, 2025) marks Canadian Jury Duty Appreciation Week.
In Saskatchewan, all jury trials are held at the Court of King’s Bench. In acknowledgement of Jury Duty Appreciation Week, Chief Justice Martel Popescul, Court of King’s Bench for Saskatchewan, recognizes and honours the valuable role that jurors play in the administration of justice.
“Jury Duty Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of jurors and promote awareness about the vital role they play in the justice system. Jurors help ensure that legal disputes are resolved fairly and impartially, and their service strengthens the rule of law for everyone. Jury service is one of the most important civic duties that a Canadian can undertake,” said Chief Justice Popescul.
“To those who are currently serving or have served as a juror: thank you for your care, commitment, and contributions to the administration of justice in Saskatchewan.”
Chief Justice Popescul also extends his appreciation to court staff and judges who support and manage the jury process, ensuring that jurors are treated with respect and that trials proceed smoothly and efficiently.
